We're new to this whole blogging thing, so we'll see how this first post goes! Some information about us...
I'm Katie (used-to-be-Dimick) Bakker. I'm working fulltime as a manager of a Target Mobile kiosk. Most people don't know they exist, but it's a kiosk in the Electronics section of Target. Technically, I work for Radio Shack, but I'm always in a Target. I work at the one in Irvine, right on Barranca.
I get to spend 40 hours a week in that store trying to sell as many phones as is humanly possible!
I'm also going to school fulltime at CSULB as a music major. This is very challenging for me because I have so little time to do everything! I'm taking seven (yes, SEVEN) classes; all music classes. I go to school five days a week and most days leave the house at 7:20 for school, go straight to work and don't get home till about 9pm.
Last but not least, I am a newlywed!
We were married on January 15, 2011 at the Newport Beach Temple and so far (hopefully it will stay that way :)! ) we love being married! I love to spend time with my new husband, but we don't see each other all that often. Since the majority of the time we see each other is after 9pm, we love to watch movies together and a new-found hobby of ours is bowling. We live in Garden Grove with Dustin's grandparents, which has been awesome for us. We love the homemade meals and we get lots of privacy in our upstairs suite. We have been very blessed with our marriage so far.
Dustin has many different jobs that he does on a regular basis and is basically a jack-of-all-trades. His main work is at a small company called Source-One Rentals. They rent out electronic equipment (i.e., computers, laptops, big screen TVs, sound systems, karaoke machines) and Dustin's job is to drive out to the site, set up the equipment, and then eventually take it down and bring it back. He loves this job because his favorite thing to do is mess with electronic equipment so the job really suits him well. He also works for his dad's company, Can-Do Handyman. Most of this job is demolition so he comes home at times, literally covered from head to toe in dirt. Lastly, he works for his parents' cookie company on the side, Bakker's Cookies. Sometimes he delivers cookie dough from the mall's basement to the stores, and sometimes he just works at the actual stores, selling cookies. Dustin is a hard worker and almost never has a day off.
Dustin is also going to school fulltime, and he goes to Goldenwest College. His major is information systems, which is business and computer science in one...only with less math. He has only 2 more classes left to take before he gets his AA which he is very excited about. This summer, he is planning on looking for a fulltime job. His dream job is to be in Tech Support for a large company. He is very athletic and loves all sports!
All in all, we are a very busy couple. Between the two of us, we hardly ever have time to relax, but we wouldn't have it any other way!!
